In 2010, U.S. President Barack Obama signed the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act, dedicating U.S. support to the governments of the affected countries in central Africa, as well as the African Union (AU) and the UN. In 2011, the AU established the Regional Cooperation Initiative for the elimination of the LRA (RCI-LRA), and its military component, the Regional Task Force (RTF). In 2013, AU forces launched “Operation Monsoon,” and reported a number of successes in destabilizing the LRA and increasing security.
