Professional Education Program
Building upon a decade of experience in experiential learning-based humanitarian education, the Lavine Family Humanitarian Studies Initiative (HSI) is an Academy continuing education program that offers workshops and trainings for humanitarian professionals.
More information on Jeannie and Jonathan Lavine can be found here.
In its first decade, over 700 students have completed HSI trainings. Cohorts from each year include graduate students, medical residents, and mid-career professionals. HSI alumni have gone on to hold leadership positions in some of the premier humanitarian agencies in the world.
Trainings offered by the Lavine Family HSI are designed to prepare students for careers in humanitarian action by developing a core-knowledge of the practice, methodologies, and complexities of humanitarian response. Offerings aim to address identified training needs of humanitarian professionals working in the field.
