Katie Farineau

Program Coordinator, Humanitarian Academy at Harvard

Katie Farineau is a Program Coordinator for the Humanitarian Academy at Harvard, in conjunction with the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative under the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Through ongoing research and education initiatives, she works with public, private, nonprofit and military partners to improve humanitarian operations in a variety of disaster and conflict zones.

Prior to this she managed the design, production, and dissemination of educational assets at the Humanitarian Academy and has co-authored multiple humanitarian case studies for the Academy. Her past projects focused on response and preparedness in Nepal, Japan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, China, and the United States. Her work at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative also includes 3+ years of experience as a logistician and coordinator for an annual Field Simulation Exercise. The HHI Simulation focuses on disaster & conflict while aiming to better prepare humanitarians for the field. She recently graduated with honors from Harvard University, where she majored in English and completed original field research on migrant populations in France with the Francois Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and with Sciences Po Paris.
