Manasi Sharma

Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Peace and Human Rights Data

Manasi Sharma is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Departments of Emergency Medicine, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medicine School, as well as in the Peace and Human Rights Data project at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, where she works on public health and peacebuilding in humanitarian settings. Her current research focuses on war-related violence, justice, resilience, and Ebola-related attitudes and behaviors in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She has a PhD from the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, where her research encompassed mixed-methods studies of trauma and mental health in South Sudan, Liberia, Somalia, and Sierra Leone; increasing adherence to antiretroviral treatment for HIV+ adolescents in Rwanda; and impact evaluations of hospital systems strengthening programs in Liberia. She has Masters in clinical psychology and human rights law, and her research interests include global mental health; complex interventions in humanitarian contexts; child and adolescent health; psychiatric epidemiology; psychometrics; human-centered design; and medical anthropology.
