The Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) has operated for more than two decades in Uganda, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and the Central African Republic (CAR). The group is known for mass murder, mutilation, and ongoing abductions to increase their ranks. Estimates of the total number of people displaced by the LRA run as high as 2.5 million. The number of civilians killed by the LRA remains difficult to estimate, but ranges from the tens of thousands to more than 100,000 people. Despite being weakened by military actions and defections, the LRA continues to terrorize civilians in central Africa.
