 Conflict’s devastating impacts on food security are a growing focus for humanitarian actors, policymakers and researchers alike in the face of a growing global food crisis. In spite of abundant evidence that conflict is a primary driver of food crises, the precise pathways through which various forms of conflict affect specific components of complex food systems remains poorly understood.

 This webinar will present new findings from a joint Harvard Humanitarian Initiative and Dublin City University-led research programme investigating the impact of conflict on food systems. Drawing on evidence from Somalia, Haiti and Sudan, this cross-country research systematically maps components of local, national and international food systems; identifies specific pressure points where conflict interacts with them; and proposes operational, policy and research actions tailored to supporting and strengthening food systems disrupted and transformed by conflict.
