Emma Kenny, MA
Research Coordinator, Gender, Rights and Resilience
Emma Kenny is the Research Coordinator for the Program on Gender, Rights and Resilience (GR2) at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative. She provides programmatic and administrative support for GR2's ongoing projects, particularly USAID's RISE grant supporting local women's groups in mining towns in Democratic Republic of the Congo. She has also been a core part of the team working with UNICEF on a project to improve measurement of gender-based violence risk mitigation in humanitarian crises worldwide. Emma is working on GR2's communications strategy and has a particular interest in doing policy or advocacy work around issues on migration and the human rights of those most vulnerable.
Prior to joining HHI, she attended Northeastern University as a Fulbright scholar for her MA in International Affairs degree. She has also interned with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as UNICEF. Kenny also holds a BSC degree in Development Studies from Lund University, where she majored in Political Science.
