Luciana will join the Building a Better Response program as a Research Assistant for the Spring 2021 semester. She has worked as a Faculty Aide for a Harvard Extension School instructor and HHI Senior Fellow, Birthe Anders, assisting with a research project on aid worker security. Luciana is also a Legal Intern at the American Red Cross, where she is conducting research on International Humanitarian Law. Her current projects include examining the effects of IHL dissemination programs among non-State armed groups, and understanding how specific IHL violations can affect the length and intensity of armed conflicts.
Luciana holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná, in Brazil, and is currently pursuing a Master of Liberal Arts in International Relations at Harvard University, along with a Graduate Certificate in International Security. Luciana’s academic interests are centered on issues relating to civilian protection during armed conflicts.
