The World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) convened 9,000 representatives from humanitarian agencies, governments, crisis-affected communities, and the private sector.

Building data responsibility into humanitarian action is the first UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs think brief to explore what constitutes the responsible use of data in humanitarian response. It was co written by the Signal Program, NYU Gov Lab and the Center for Innovation at Leiden University.

KoBoToolbox is a free and open source platform to collect data, developed by field researchers, evaluators and humanitarians, with the support of the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, UNOCHA, the MacArthur foundation and other generous donors.

Two years of conflict in the Donbas region of Ukraine has continued to intensify since early March of this year. Kevin Coughlin manages the grants and helps coordinate projects for the Programs on Peace and Human Rights and Evaluation and Implementation Science at HHI. During the last twenty years, the United Nations, the Red Cross Movement and nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) have had to increasingly utilise negotiation to ensure access and the provision of humanitarian assistance to those in need. Current trends of increasing international and intrastate conflict are likely to continue and thus negotiated access will remain an important issue.
