Dr. Himi Mathur is a clinician-strategist, systems scientist, and emerging leader in responsible AI governance. A doctoral candidate (DrPH) at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a Prajna and Julio Frenk Fellow, her research investigates the governance of AI-enabled clinical decision support systems — with a focus on human-in-the-loop dynamics, technology integration, and equitable system design.

Dr. Mathur brings a decade of cross-continental healthcare experience of providing direct patient care, leading community health programs in rural India to leading high impact healthcare delivery programs in Boston, USA. This experience forged the question that has driven her research journey - What would health systems look like if we designed them from the start for the people who need them most?

She currently serves as a graduate researcher at Mass General Brigham's MJ Lab advancing the development and implementation of bottom-up AI governance.
