Maya James

Maya James was a student research assistant for HHI’s Peace and Human Rights Data Program-“Developing and Using Indicator Frameworks for Locally Led Peacebuilding in Central Africa." She has previously worked for the World Bank Group, Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs, and the Oslo Women’s Rights Initiative, which amplifies the work of civil society leaders in the MENA region. 

In 2022, Maya graduated with a Master of Theological Studies in Religion, Ethics, and Politics from Harvard Divinity School, where she studied community-led peacebuilding and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) initiatives. She believes that empowering civil societies to determine their own futures is the most sustainable form of peacebuilding and is excited to support HHI’s efforts in central Africa.
